JUCO defensive end Dorian Gerald de-commits from Tennessee

November 12, 2017

Three-star JUCO defensive end Dorian Gerald announced Sunday that he is no longer committed to Tennessee, which could mean good news for South Carolina.

Gerald, who’s currently enrolled at College of the Canyons in California, is scheduled to be in Columbia this upcoming weekend for his official visit. The West Florence (S.C.) High School graduate visited South Carolina earlier this season for the Arkansas game.

Several other programs are in the mix for Gerald, including Louisville and Texas A&M. According to the 247Sports composite, he is the No. 10 overall junior college prospect in the Class of 2018.

South Carolina already has a commitment from JUCO defensive tackle Jabari Ellis (Santee, S.C.) and Marlon Character Jr. (Atlanta, Ga.). Nationally, Ellis, who’s at Georgia Military College, is No. 31 overall. Character, an Auburn transfer at Northwest Mississippi C.C., is No. 9.

This weekend, the Gamecocks hosted JUCO defensive back Saivion Smith, an LSU transfer who’s currently enrolled at Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. Three-star defensive end Jarrett Jackson, who’s committed to Louisville, was also on campus as an official visitor.
