Big 4 star OL Paris Palmer (6-9 310) of Lackawanna JC, PA visited USC Saturday and is leaving Columbia with the feeling that the Gamecocks are his favorite. But, that feeling is not strong enough to move him to a commitment right now.

“I have a plan and I want to see it thru,” Palmer said. “I want to make sure everything is good academically before I commit, and my focus is on my current school.” So, the plan is not to make a commitment until after his season.

Palmer spent his time with offensive line coach Shawn Elliott and was impressed by what he saw and heard. “It was great,” he said. “They showed me a lot of hospitality, me and my family. They welcomed me and my family and made me feel comfortable, made me feel like a Gamecock honestly.”

Palmer said he got a good look at the athletic facilities and what the Gamecocks are building across the street from the stadium. He did not get a tour of the campus but will make a return trip for that. His uncle lives about 15 minutes from Williams-Brice so he has a connection in Columbia.

Palmer also watched the Gamecocks practice and scrimmage inside the stadium.

“I’m liking South Carolina a lot,” he said. “It’s definitely close to home (he’s from Plymouth, NC) so it’s easy for my mother to come see me play. I’m thinking highly of South Carolina right now. I would say South Carolina is my leader. I got that “home” feeling and they’re telling me they have high expectations for me to come in and compete for a starting job.

Palmer returns to Pennsylvania Sunday and said he next visit most likely would be to Penn State. He visited East Carolina Friday.

He also has offers from Penn State, Ohio State, Temple, East Carolina, Arizona State, South Florida, Miami and Baylor.
