One of the most talented defensive backs at the South Florida Express try out over the weekend was 4 star Rashard Causey 6'0" 193lbs. He’s a talent from Ft. Lauderdale University School that is sitting on close to two dozen scholarship offers.
“Right now I have 23 offers,” Causey said. “I got a few new ones recently from schools like Clemson, Wake Forest, Pitt and Penn State. Rutgers was my first offer. Teams like South Carolina, Florida and Miami have offered as well.”
Of his current offer list three schools standout for the 6-foot-0, 185-pound cornerback.
“I really like South Carolina and Miami,” Causey said. “Throw UCLA in there as well. Those three schools kind of standout to me.
“I went to South Carolina last summer and love everything about the program. My best friend [skai Moore] goes there and he has told me great things about the program. He has also taught me a lot to the game. He means a lot to me. I love coach [steve] Spurrier and the entire coaching staff. They are all pretty cool guys.
“Miami was always my favorite team growing up. When they offered me I was so excited. Honestly, I couldn’t believe it. I was like ‘UM offered me’. They are my local team.
“I have always wanted to live in California and I have really started to like UCLA. To know I could go out there to live, play football and go to school would be great.”
Causey plans to head west in June to visit UCLA and perhaps USC. He also wants to check out Ohio State, Texas and Louisville this summer as well.
“I am pretty sure I will camp at UCLA and I will definitely visit South Carolina again,” Causey said.
Last season as a junior, Causey had 40 tackles and four interceptions.
