Former Kansas safety Isaiah Johnson is ready to get down to the final process of making a decision on where where will play his final season of college football. Johnson is set to take his official visit to USC this weekend, and if he doesn’t end things then, he is scheduled to see Louisville the following weekend.
Johnson talked with USC recruiter Joe Robinson Saturday and he said he hears every day thru social media from Lorenzo Ward and/or Steve Spurrier Jr. “They are trying to get me to become a Gamecock,” Johnson said. “They’re tell me how I’m going to have a good time and enjoy myself, stuff like that. I just want to make sure everything is right for me regarding place for living, playing time, and basically just talking to the coaches.”
Johnson said he also hears regularly from Louisville, just not as much as hears from USC. And he said academically everything looks good for USC taking him as a transfer as long as he finishes up his classes on schedule and graduates May 17th.
Johnson said he’s not in a position yet to say if he might possibly commit to the Gamecocks on this visit, but he did confirm they are the team to beat.
“I would say South Carolina is definitely out front right now.”
Johnson, who is from Cary, NC, will be joined by his parents on the visit. He plans to arrive in Columbia Friday night.
