For those of you that weren't at the game, or failed to notice. Immediately after Marcus Lattimore went down with that horrendous knee injury, there were several of our players that went onto the field to comfort him. Kenny Miles 'hovered' over Marcus on his hands and knees, I assume talking to/praying with Marcus. Kenny, Nick Jones (fomer HS teammate at Byrnes), and one other player stayed 'on top' of Lattimore until he was carted off the field.
Keep in mind that Kenny Miles lost any chance to start at RB when Marcus committed to us. Instead of holding bitterness and disdain for Lattimore, Kenny Miles stayed around on his hands and kness trying to comfort his fallen comrade and friend. Had Kenny less character and or compassion, he could easily be jealous of Marcus, and blame him for Kenny's reduced role on the team.
My oldest son knows Kenny from time spent socializing with his as a FR and Soph. My son always told me that, "Dad, Kenny Miles a really nice kid". Although most of us KNOW that Miles is a nice kid, and a team player, yesterday while Marcus was sprawled out on the field in physical and mental despair, Kenny's actions almost brought me to tears.
Maybe I'm over-reacting here, and should expect a teammate to be supportive of their injured brethren, but Kenny's actions yesterday SPOKE volumes as the culture change, and the type of character kids Spurrier and his staff have brought here.
Finally, on our last punt, needing to contain one of the better kick returners (Patterson) in the country, we hit a beaUtiful punt, and our gunner, none other than Kenny Miles, was down there to make a solo tackle. UT started that drive inside the twenty, due to a great punt, and Kenny's hustle. The kid is simply a team player, and does whatever he has been asked to do. I am so glad that he decided to return to our team. His character and effort should not go un-noticed.
What a kid. I know his parents are very proud of him! Damn glad he's a Fighting Gamecock
