GREENWOOD - Greenwood High School has a habit of producing top teams and top prospects, and the latest is class of 2015 four-star cornerback Kaleb Chalmers 5'11" 170lbs, who is ranked the No. 6 prospect in the state of South Carolina for his class.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect has early offers from Clemson, Duke, North Carolina and Stanford.
Chalmers, who is ranked the No. 19 cornerback in his class by 247Sports, also has a strong interest in and from South Carolina.
"I like their secondary, they put people in the NFL," Chalmers said. "I like their coaches and they've got nice facilities."
Chalmers visited South Carolina for the Gamecocks' Black Magic camp last month, and got an in-depth tour of the program.
"It was a good camp," Chalmers said. "The visit was a nice and the coaches, it was a good family environment."
Chalmers also has begun to develop a relationship with South Carolina quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus.
"I got to talk to him a lot," Chalmers said. "He took me on the tour too, so I'm pretty cool with him."
Chalmers also has a connection to the program in that his cousin is former South Carolina and Greenwood standout D.J. Swearinger.
