Latest updates on Gamecocks class

September 22, 2017

Late last week, the 2018 South Carolina football recruiting class lost a commitment from junior college defensive tackle Dantrell Barkley.

That class now has 18 members, though that figure doesn’t include the lone holdover from the 2017 class — defensive end Tyreek Johnson — who will arrive in January as a grayshirt.

Below is an update on where things stand for the 2018 class:

Where the South Carolina class ranks

The loss of Barkley, who was generously ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 31 overall JUCO prospect in the country, dropped South Carolina’s class outside of the top 25. The Gamecocks’ 2018 haul is now ranked as the No. 26 class in the country.
