It seems it will be just a matter of time until Spartanburg (S.C.) Broome defender LB D'Marco Jackson 6'1" 185lbs begins to draw major Division I interest.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder jumps off the screen with his size and physical play from the secondary, and his head coach Jet Turner believes he's a legitimate high-level prospect.

"He had 22 tackles against Union," Turner said at Broome High during a scouting visit. "He had a punt block, a kickoff return for touchdown, he rushed for 90 yards, and scored the game-winning two point conversion."

Turner  said "that he has not coached many high-level Division I players during his 20-plus year career (a former quarterback, Aaron Miller, starts for The Citadel) but that he is completely sold on Jackson's potential."

"When I was at Clover, we went against (Jadeveon) Clowney. I know what a Division I guy is now. That kid, unless he screws up is a Division I kid. It's literally like a man playing amongst boys at time. He's special," Turner said. "He has 'A' grades, a super kid. He has no offers. He's really coachable. When a guy is running the ball and gets hit and falls forward, no, there's no falling forward with him. If a guy gets five yards and makes contact, that's it. As a freshman, he was our leading tackler.

According to Turner, the physical safety's future could actually be in the defensive front seven.

"He's going to be an inside linebacker," the coach said. "He's 185 pounds right now. He's going to be 6-2, 220. He might be an outside linebacker, but he's legit. We would love for him to play inside linebacker but we have no secondary, so he's our free safety.

Last summer, Jackson traveled to the Tar Heel State to take in a pair of camps. Early on, he hopes to hear from a couple of schools in North Carolina along with local programs in the Palmetto State.

"We went to North Carolina State and UNC-Charlotte," Jackson said. "I like UNC, I'm liking Duke and hope to hear something from them. Clemson and Carolina. I wouldn't mind hearing from the D-I schools around here in this area."

Although the recruiting process is just beginning for Jackson, he is looking forward to getting the chance to hit the road in the future.

"I'm just thankful for what I've got and my athletic ability," he said. "I'm expecting to go to a bunch of camps and get some colleges to invite me to some junior days and stuff."
