LB Kash Daniel of Paintsville, KY decided his heart was in the home state and announced a commitment to Kentucky Saturday afternoon. Daniel chose the Wildcats after strong overtures from USC, Louisville and Florida.

Daniel attended USC’s Showcase camp last month and he gave the Gamecocks strong consideration. They may have even been his leader privately after the visit. But after returning home and cancelling a visit to Florida, Daniel became more focused on the nearby Wildcats. The chance to be an in-state grown talent contributing to the rebirth of Kentucky football was a very strong pull for him.

Daniel’s decision means USC and Clemson went 0-3 on commitments the last three days. Thursday OL Parker Boudreaux of Orlando committed to Notre Dame over Clemson and others. And Friday WR Brad Hawkins Jr. of Camden, NJ committed to Michigan over USC.

Next up on the commitment calendar, as far as targets how have announced a commitment date, is TE Nasier Upshur of Philadelphia. He’s believed to be favoring Michigan at this point after a recent visit. USC, Florida State, Maryland, Temple, Arizona State, Southern Cal and Alabama are the others on his short list. However, USC and Clemson have recruiting events planned for later this month that could lead to commitments.
