4 star LB Quinton Powell 6'2" 190lbs of Daytona Beach, FL thought he would be announcing on Signing Day for either Florida or Southern Cal. But Saturday he received a call from the Gators informing him they were pulling his offer. After meeting with Florida coach Will Muschamp earlier in the week, Powell thought he had until Monday to tell the Gators of his decision, so their early call caught him by surprise. With the Gators out, Powell said Saturday night he's reevaluating things with USC, Southern Cal, Oregon and Miami now on his list. He confirmed the Gamecocks place on the list. "Yea, they are," he said. "They showed me more interest than Florida had originally. So now I'm going to consider them and see where it takes me. I've been to South Carolina so I'll go off past experiences. I'm basically just going to do some more evaluation and see." Powell said Southern Cal has to be considered at the top right now because he had the Trojans in his final two before Saturday. He is to announce his decision on Signing Day on ESPNU at 12:15 PM.

LB Quinton Powell of Daytona Beach, FL won't get a NLI from USC despite returning the Gamecocks to his short list after Florida dropped him. A source said Sunday the Gamecocks will not have room for Powell who also listed Southern Cal, Miami and Oregon on his final list. Powell never took an official visit to USC. His only official visits were to Southern Cal and Miami. He is scheduled to announce on ESPNU Wednesday at 12:15 PM.
