4 star LB Tyrell Lyons 6'2" 220lbs of Jacksonville, FL has finished his official visit to USC and headed back home. Lyons has been committed to Florida State and said that has not changed. "I did not commit (to USC)," Lyons said. "It was alright, it was sweet," he said of the visit. Lyons has been committed to the Seminoles since February. FSU coaching change led to Lyons being open

If it weren't for a Spanish class, 4 star LB Tyrell Lyons 6'2" 220lbs  of Jacksonville, FL would be enrolled at Florida State right now. According to his coach at First Coast High School Marty Lee, Lyons, who had committed to the Seminoles in February, wanted to enroll at mid-term but needed one more semester of Spanish, so he had to return to the high school for the spring. That, and the change of linebacker coaches at Florida State, gave USC a chance to move in on Lyons and get in the picture. Lyons visited USC over the weekend. "Coach Spurrier Jr. does a great job recruiting our area," coach Lee said. "Florida State was one of the first schools to get on him. The previous linebackers coach, he wasn't close to. The new linebackers coach (at FSU) has made a difference." Lee expects to see Lyons Monday afternoon to get an update on his thinking. Last season Lee had 63 tackles with 5 sacks. "There's a lot of upside to him," his coach said. "He can play in the open field and play inside. His motor runs 100%." Lee also was offered by Clemson, Miami, Louisville and North Carolina.

Spurrier gets in to see Lyons

USC head coach Steve Spurrier and assistant Steve Spurrier Jr. met Tuesday with 4 star LB Tyrell Lyons 6'2" 220lbs of Jacksonville. Lyons made his official visit to USC last weekend. His coach Marty Lee said Lyons had an excellent visit to USC and a very good meeting with the two Gamecock coaches. Lyons has been committed to Florida State but Lee said he is up in the air between the Gamecocks and Seminoles at this point. Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is to meet with Lyons Wednesday and his coach said he’ll make a final decision soon after the visit with Fisher.

Lyons coach says decision is imminent

USC head coach Steve Spurrier and assistant Steve Spurrier Jr. met Tuesday with 4 star LB Tyrell Lyons 6'2" 220lbs of Jacksonville. Lyons made his official visit to USC last weekend. His coach Marty Lee said Lyons had an excellent visit to USC and a very good meeting with the two Gamecock coaches. "He had a great visit and a great conversation," Lee said, "but he's not made up his mind." Lyons has been committed to Florida State but Lee said he is up in the air between the Gamecocks and Seminoles at this point. Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is to meet with Lyons Wednesday and his coach said he'll make a final decision soon after the visit with Fisher. "He's very confused right now," the coach said. "He really likes South Carolina. He likes coach Spurrier. We had a linebacker that played at South Carolina, Shaq Wilson, who says nothing but positive things. But we've got three players at Florida State that love it at Florida State. It's close to home, just two and a half hours. There's a lot going into it. SEC vs ACC. It think it's going to boil down to which assistant coach he feels more comfortable with. In my opinion, what I would do, who he feels more comfortable with and when he's going to get on the field. I know he and coach Spurrier discussed that. He's really and truly not made up his mind. Hopefully tomorrow (Wednesday) he's going to do something." Lyons has been committed to Florida State since February but the Seminoles have gone thru a change at linebacker coach since the season ended.

No news from LB Tyrell Lyons

4 star LB Tyrell Lyons 6'2" 220lbs of Jacksonville, FL has not made his decision as of Wednesday afternoon according to First Coast High School coach Marty Lee. Lee said he saw Lyons with Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher at the school before he had to leave and Lyons had not given him any new information. USC coach Steve Spurrier met with Lyons Tuesday. "He's going to go home and talk to his parents," coach Lee said. "He may not have a decision until Signing Day."

Lyons will be signing with Florida State

LB Tyrell Lyons of Jacksonville, FL will be sticking with his commitment to Florida State. Lyons made an official visit to USC but according to a source, Lyons did not receive a letter of intent from the Gamecocks. Lyons will sign with the Seminoles at 9:00 Wednesday morning.
