Letdown or Sandwich Game: Mississippi State, Sept. 23
Mississippi State is hardly an opponent the Gamecocks can cruise through, but this is the perfect definition of a sandwich game coming between at Georgia and at Tennessee.

South Carolina Football Schedule What To Know: Who do the Gamecocks miss from the SEC slate?

Any time you don’t have to play Alabama or LSU in the SEC your schedule isn’t that bad. The Gamecocks miss two of the West stars, and they don’t have to deal with Arkansas, Auburn, or Ole Miss.

That means they have to deal with Texas A&M and Mississippi State. The latter is manageable at home, but it’s a sandwich date between road trips to Georgia and Tennessee. The former is on the road after going to Missouri.

South Carolina Football Schedule What Really Matters

November is just fine. Get through the first part of the season, and there’s a chance to make a whole lot of noise.

Closing with Clemson is rough no matter what, but at least that’s in Columbia. That closes out a perfectly-timed month without having to leave home.

It’s a beauty of a way to end. There might be five games away from home in the first two months, but Jacksonville State, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky are all winnable home games before finishing with the Tigers.

South Carolina Football Schedule What To Know: What does it all really mean?

Not having to deal with Alabama and LSU is huge.

The Georgia game is on the road, and going to Tennessee is rough. However, Florida is a home game Missouri and Texas A&M are manageable road dates. Combine all of that with the never-leave-home November, and there’s a lot with this slate to like.

Of course it’s not all going to be easy – going to Texas A&M might be nasty this year, and you can all but forget about taking the East with those road games at Georgia and Tennessee – but the Gamecocks should be in for a big year with this schedule.

IMO UGA, TN, and A&M will all be really tough games but if we can squeeze out 1 or 2 upsets there, then beat UNC and FL, this could turn out to be our best season since 2013. I really think, including Clemson, the other 7 will be wins.
I hate it when we have a huge game, like if we upset UGA, then we drop the ball the next week. Like losing to Missou after the A&M game this past year.
If Beamer and company can keep that type of loss from happening, this team may finally be reaching that next level.

I would love it for other teams to worry about having to play us. I would love for the sports media to quit always listing us as underdogs.
After the way we won in the Mayo Bowl, I do not understand us being "dogs" against UNC.

Maybe I should also, but I really think they worry too much about our RB situation.
We have all seen how DJ can get down the field running the ball. And I really think JuJu and Mario, are going to put up some big runs when the D is more worried about Rattler passing the ball. The way Trey Knox looked, the LB's will have to hang back a little every play. Let one of our RB get thru the line and they might have plenty of running room.

Hoping we don't have any LETDOWN games.

I expect a start like the Notre Dame finish, but hopefully with wins instead.

I also believe Shane wants to beat UGA very badly and I think we'll see his recruits finally level the playing field for us this year.

No idea what Dowell's offense will look like until the season actually plays out.
