He finishes his academic work on Wednesday and will head home to Greenwood Saturday. And as of Tuesday night he plans to sign December 17th with USC to follow thru on the commitment he made in July.

“It’s looking like South Carolina, I think that’s the best decision for me,” Lewis said. “I heard from Auburn the other day. They were telling me they need me and they are still recruiting me and letting me know how much they want me.”

USC recruiters Lorenzo Ward and Deke Adams visited with Lewis last week and basically gave him the same message.

“They talked about me coming in and having me adjust as soon as possible to help pick up from this season and have a good year next year. At this pointy, it’s definitely South Carolina. Even with the coaching situation, I don’t think anything will change.”

Lewis said Auburn is supposed to be out to see him one more time Friday, and on Saturday USC head coach Steve Spurrier along with Ward and Adams are to visit with him in Greenwood.

Lewis finished the season with 58 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and 20 quarterback pressures.
