I have to say I’m not too thrilled with the names that are being mentioned in the media besides Ray Tanner at this point.
To quote from a story in Gogamecocks homepage:
“Other potential candidates with South Carolina ties could include: Brad Edwards, a former Gamecock star and nine-year NFL veteran, who is the athletics director at Newberry College; current Georgia Tech athletics director Dan Radakovich, who was an associate athletics director at South Carolina from 1994 to 2000 and also was a candidate for the Texas A&M job; and Middle Tennessee State athletics director Chris Massaro, who spent 20 years at South Carolina before joining the Blue Raiders in 2005.”
I suspect Tanner could become a good AD, but I don’t want to lose him as the Yardcocks’s skipper. None of these other names strike me as having the kind of top tier creds our AD position now merits IMHO.
Hopefully there are other big names being courted that aren’t making it into the media chamber.
