Spring Valley receiver Hunter Rogers will walk-on at South Carolina. Rogers made the announcement Monday on this Twitter page. He had received several offers to play baseball but is giving that sport up to walk on for the Gamecocks football program. He is being recruited as a long snapper.
“Baseball has always been the sport I grew up loving, but ever since I started playing football for Spring Valley under Coach Bacon,” Rogers said, “I fell in love with the game. I’ve been a Carolina fan since birth and I know there’s nothing better than running out to 2001. The coaches at USC are very honest in what they want in me as a player and want me to come in and fight for my role.”
Rogers had a big senior season as the Vikings moved to a more spread offense. He caught 41 passes for 563 yards and seven touchdowns.
