Hilinski is he the presumptive starter because he's notched a season of experience? Hilinski's  up down campaign due to injuries, With that said. Do you see it wide open? Gamecocks will have options here list of primary competitors: Hillinski? Doty? Dak? Hill? Do you expect solid number 1 and 2 will be sorted out at the end of spring practice?

My thought is that Hilinksi took his lumps last year. He was obviously thrust into action far too soon and was apparently not 100% for a good part of last season.

I'm also not sold on the coaching he was getting from BMac/Werner combo either. Bobo was pretty frank with him in their first sit-down after he arrived and didn't handle him with kid gloves. Bobo has a solid track record with SEC QBs, so I'm hopeful here that Bobo can get Hilinksi straightened out and keep him injury free to show some real progress this year.

I hope it's Hilinksi,  that's what would work out best, in my opinion, for the fans and the coaching staff. Doty's development, would be best for a healthy Hilinksi to run the show.(Having seen what can happen with a young QB when thrust into action way too soon), but again whoever it is, I surely hope someone emerges and takes a stranglehold of the position and that we don't end up with a starter by default. Would like to see Dak at the  number 2 QB and Doty redshirt.

I hope Hilinski improves enough over the spring and summer that there is no decision to make, but Bobo is bringing Collin Hill in next year for a reason.

Maybe you burn a scholarship for one year simply to mentor and backup, but I'd be willing to bet Hill thinks he is starting next year.

If Hilinski gets back to normal I believe he'll be #1 and if given a true shot Urich will be the #2.

Yes, Hill was brought in for a reason. Hilinski was supposed to RS last year behind a veteran QB. Whether it was due to inexperience, talent or injury, his play was the reason that we:

Demoted and ultimately replaced our OC

Got rid of our QB coach

Got our Head Coach's butt planted firmly on the hot seat

Went 4-8

With Hill and a healthy Hilinski and Doty, we have options even if someone gets hurt. It is possible that Hilinski takes a RS, but I suspect that he competes with Hill for the starting job, with Urich as 3rd team and Doty taking a RS so he can back-up as a RS Freshman and start for three years.

Joyner seems to be forgotten - remember he was hurt last year as well - so I suspect that he is either a full-time WR (or a potential transfer). I think Bobo and his scheme are more geared to dropback passers.
I think Hilinski and Hill are interchangeable 1/2’s.

Doty is probably going to be #3. I see Urich as a fultime WR. Dak, I see as a WR with a package of plays to run at QB.

I always heard that Joyner was a better HS QB than Trevor Lawrence

Don't know much about Lawrence in high school, but saw Dak play quite a bit.  He was a very good high school quarterback and easily the best athlete on the field against most teams they played.  His threat to run it really gave the other teams fits and he could throw it pretty well.  The windows to get a ball into a receiver are a little bigger in high school so it is always hard to tell just what that translates to on the next level and we never really got to see what he could do at this level.  I have been impressed with him as a person in high school and now even more so in college and want good things for this young man, who has honored his commitment and been a team first guy through his years at USC.
