Looking at the South Carolina linebacker targets for 2018

Below is a look at how the linebacker depth could shake out for the 2018 season.
The returning roster
The following assumes everyone plays in 2017 and there is no attrition to the NFL or transfer departures.
T.J. Brunson, junior
Eldridge Thompson, redshirt junior
Davonne Bowen, sophomore
Sherrod Greene, sophomore
Damani Staley, sophomore
With two linebackers set to depart after the upcoming season – Bryson Allen-Williams and Skai Moore – South Carolina is expected to bring in multiple linebackers with the 2018 haul.
The options
Four-star inside linebacker Dax Hollifield (Shelby, N.C.) has visited the South Carolina campus several times since picking up his offer at Muschamp Camp last summer. The No. 108 overall prospect in the class of 2018 continues to list South Carolina as a finalist with North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Hollifield (6-1, 220) also has offers from Alabama, Notre Dame and Stanford.
Zakoby McClain (Valdosta, Ga.) is set to visit South Carolina this weekend for junior day. Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCLA and Wisconsin also have offered. McClain (6-0, 205), a 4-star, is the No. 23-ranked outside linebacker in the country.
The top-rated name on this list, 4-star outside linebacker J.J. Peterson (Moultrie, Ga.). The No. 50 overall 2018 prospect is the No. 2-ranked outside linebacker in the country. Peterson (6-2, 210) has several SEC offers, and he visited Georgia over the weekend, according to his 247Sports profile.
Channing Tindall (Columbia, S.C.) continues to reel in SEC offers: Auburn, Florida and Georgia are among the more recent tenders. Tindall (6-1.5, 205) remains unranked by 247Sports, but that’ll probably change in the not too distant future. He will return to South Carolina this weekend for junior day.
Like Peterson, who’s a former teammate of South Carolina tight end Kiel Pollard, 4-star Quin Williams has a former teammate in Columbia. Williams (6-1.5, 205) attends Morgan County High School in Madison, Ga., where M.J. Webb graduated from in December. The No. 17-ranked outside linebacker has offers from Florida, Michigan and Tennessee.
