There are a lot of reasons for a program to lose a recruit. A&M's reason for their likely loss of their top QB recruit for the 2013 class is not unique. Quarterback prospects often shy away from a program with an established underclassman starter at their position. But it is unique in the established QB is the first to win the Heisman Trophy as a freshman.

Kenny Hill, A&M's prize QB commitment is on the verge of decommitting.

Johnny Manziel is causing all A&M QB’s and QB commits to re-evaluate their situation. Quarterbacks today just aren’t willing to sit three seasons waiting to compete for a starting job. That was the case 20+ years ago, but with the proliferation of sophisticated offenses at all levels of college football, a QB can get exposure and put themselves into a draftable situation at smaller school….just ask Ben Rothliesberger, Josh McCown, for starters.

Good point.  I wonder who will get the prize recruit since he decommitted?
