Luke Doty, Alex Huntley lead Florida prospects at South Carolina camp

In this South Carolina football recruiting update, a look at the prospects who visited for Day 3 of the Will Muschamp Football Camp.
The Thursday sessions featured another bus full of players from the state of Florida. The Day 3 crew drove up from Deerfield Beach High School, the program that produced freshman linebacker Rosendo Louis, who joined the Gamecocks in January.
Ge’Mon Eaford, a 4-star linebacker, is the team’s top-rated 2019 prospect. At 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, Eaford is ranked the No. 13 outside linebacker in the country on the 247Sports composite.
South Carolina has an offer on the table, along with Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma. Defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson was spotted chatting with him shortly after the group arrived to the indoor facility in the morning.
Also in the group was 3-star wide receiver Bryce Gowdy, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect from the 2020 class, who is ranked as the No. 53 player at his position by 247Sports. In the afternoon portion of camp, tight ends coach Pat Washington kept a close eye on Gowdy, who looks bigger than his listed weight on 247Sports.

Quarterbacks coach Dan Werner spent much of his morning inside the practice facility speaking with 2020 Myrtle Beach quarterback Luke Doty and his mother. Doty, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound 3-star, lists offers from Auburn, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State and Virginia Tech.
South Carolina, of course, has offered. Doty remains one of the Gamecocks’ top priorities at the position for the Class of 2020. After camp ended, Doty and his mother hopped on a golf cart with Werner and a few offensive staffers, which included strength and conditioning coordinator Jeff Dillman.
Another top 2020 prospect from the state, 4-star defensive tackle Alex Huntley, made the short trip over to campus. Huntley attends Columbia’s Hammond School, where he’s a classmate and teammate of Muschamp’s oldest son, Jackson, a 2020 quarterback who threw again on Thursday.
During the camp’s lunch break, both Doty and Huntley were brought into Muschamp’s office at the indoor facility, presumably to meet with the Gamecocks’s coach. Like Doty, Huntley was accompanied on the visit with his mother.
Barnwell High School offensive lineman Isaiah Williams (6-5, 290) was spotted at camp, though he was not participating in drills.

Pro Impact Sports, a 7-on-7 organization in the Jacksonville area, brought four prospects to camp: 2021 quarterback Ridge Jacobs, 2020 running back Max McClendon, 2021 linebacker Dedrick Smith and 2021 defensive back Larry Smith.
Jacobs, whose grandfather played at South Carolina, is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound quarterback at University Christian. McClendon (5-10, 175) is the son of former Florida running back Willie McClendon and a teammate of Jacobs. Dedrick (6-2, 170) and Larry (6-0, 175) aren’t related, but they attend Robert E. Lee High School.
Miami and North Carolina have offered Dedrick Smith. Larry Smith lists offers from Arkansas State and North Carolina.

A handful of prospects from Hunter Huss High School (Gastonia, N.C.) worked out: 2019 linebacker Prince Bemah (5-11, 218), 2019 linebacker Marcus Mauney (6-1, 219) and 2020 quarterback Zo Wallace (6-2, 180).
Dontavius Nash, a 2021 athlete with offers from Maryland, North Carolina and Tennessee, did not participate, because he was recovering from an injury.
