Boston, 20, was in court Monday in Wilson County, Tennessee, facing a simple marijuana possession charge, according to Wilson County Sheriff's Department Lt. Scott Moore. But as he stood to face Judge Haywood Barry, he began expressing his views on why weed should be legalized.
And to amplify his point, he reached into his jacket and slipped out a single marijuana cigarette. He then pulled out a box of matches and, you guessed it, lit it up.

only in Tennessee do we jail someone/cite someone for Marijuana when we are the Meth/Opioid capital of the world...while I don't think that his idea was well thought out, it is ridiculous to continue incarcerating over smoking a plant while at the same time raking in tax money hand over fist for tobacco

Yeah I agree. Changes are being made on that front, but it will be a very long and slow process before the stuff is completely legal, if ever. And even if it does become legal at the Federal level, I imagine some states will continue to keep pot illegal. I mean we still have blue laws FFS.

Saw this yesterday and almost posted it in the WTF? thread... Heuvos don't require brains!

Agreed. And add to that the pushing of legal opioid pain killers.

While I agree about opioids, they certainly have their place in modern medicine at this time at least....
Agreed. They have their place in certain situations. But the way they were pushed and overprescribed is staggering. This country will deal with the consequences for decades.

I was prescribed some years ago after a surgery. They made me feel real good. I'm just glad I didn't get hooked.

I hear you man...I had back surgery 3 years ago and they gave me 90 (that is not a typo) oxycontin....I was like WTF?  I took one and turned the rest back in...

One thing that is coming down the line is an anesthetic called experal (approved since 2011 I believe).  Basically it is injected into surgical sites and produces profound local anesthesia that can last for 3 days.  This is the most critical time of healing/pain in which opioids may be necessary. It costs about 300/administration to purchase as a practitioner from what I understand.  At least for the kind of surgery I do, that is a considerable addition to the surgery.  Orthopedics are using and I would love to be able to offer it as well

Just hit em with a few drops of lavender oil and then tell them to do an alkalizing cleanse for a few days.

This is the equivalent of showing up for your DUI hearing with a tumbler full of Vodka..."Your Honor...my name is Randy...and I have a dangerous drinking problem that negatively effects my decision making on the daily"

Never underestimate how well dumb people smoking pot can make smoking pot seem dumb...sorry if that doesn't make much sense...I just smoked pot

Absolutely have their place, the trick is finding the right balance.
Ecstasy and psilocybin mushrooms have their place as well...the trick to finding that right balance certainly has its challenges
