Marcus David Satterfield (born April 9, 1976) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the offensive coordinator for South Carolina. Satterfield served as the head football coach at Tennessee Tech University from 2016 to 2017. He was the offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee at Martin (2006–2008), the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (2009–2012), and Temple University (2013–2014). He was an assistant coach at Richmond during the 2004 season and Western Carolina in 2005. Satterfield played college football at East Tennessee State University.[1] FULL BIO; Marcus Satterfield Bio

No big time schools, What kind of offense here? I am not familiar with him not a Panthers fan. Steelers baby!!

But what scheme will he put in place here? Air raid more grounded like Bobo? Anyone?

Not sure. This article talks about him having some potent offenses and I want to say they were pass heavy, but don't have time to go and dig up those stats.  I also heard on one of the shows that he had some good running backs with good production along the way, but have not looked into any of that either.

From 2013-15, Satterfield was the offensive coordinator at Temple where he helped guide the Owls to historic marks. In his first year at Temple, Satterfield’s offense averaged nearly 400 yards per game, which was the most by an Owl team since 1979. Temple earned the 2015 American Athletic Conference east division title and posted a 10-win season.

Satterfield also held offensive coordinator roles at Chattanooga (2009-12) and UT Martin (2006-07). In 2010, Satterfield’s Chattanooga offense averaged 430 yards and scored 49 touchdowns, which ranked 11th nationally. During his time at UT Martin, the Skyhawks led the OVC in scoring offense in 2007 and 2008, while also leading the league in total offense in 2007.

More recent....Bridgewater is a dual threat guy.

One thought....Shane likely already has a playbook or a bunch of them. The OC doesn't have to necessarily be an offensive genius, but he has to be a good play caller and game day schemer.

Really like the hire. Could be an great fit. Now hope the DC hire comes through with another great fit

Bridgewater is not and has never been a dual threat. He's mobile but he's a pro-style QB.

Think what I am going to do this time around is not grade a hire before they get a chance here because of so many unknowns. Head coach first time etc. We got spring practices hopefully this time around. Going to chill here and think positive as long as I can. Very good here across the board at GCF compared to others going off the deep end. Go Cocks!!

I find it hard to believe this was 'B' on Beamer's initial list of OC candidates

Sounds like good advice to me.  At the end of the day we don' know how any of the conversations went and really at the end of the day we could hire who we may think is the very best and some fans are going to take issue because we all know so much about how to run a football program lol.

I think that Bobo was forced on Beamer, and since this happened so quickly after Bobo left, Satterfield must have been pretty high up on his list.

Very cool to see all of the players sending out their support for Beamer after the Bobo debacle.  Of note: Marshawn Lloydd and Zach Pickens our two highest rated players.  I fee like he is earning their respect and loyalty.

Another positive to the Satterfield hire: he is best bros with Brent Key. Just sayin'.

What are the players saying?

Yeap reason Ryan hit the portal. Best Tanner stay far far away and let Beamer do the hiring here he is football Tanner all baseball only. Great baseball coach here but. Well you get my thought.

Another connection: Beamer and Satterfield have know each other since 2002, when they were both GAs under Fulmer at the University of Football at Knoxville.
