Very interesting, Will. They almost lost me when they put Kiffin on the list, a man who still can't enter the state unless in disguise, but some of the other names were interesting. I wonder why Napier hasn't gotten a gig?

I don't see any name coach taking that job until they find out how bad the sanctions are going to be (and it will be bad).

Might help some of us feel better about our new OC.  247Sports named Marcus Satterfield as a potential replacement for Jeremy Pruitt in Tennessee.   It most likely won't happen, but interesting that they think he would be considered when some of us (including myself) have questioned his ability to be our OC.
I honestly wasn't aware there were people who didn't get that Satterfield was a terrific and well thought of hire.

satterfield won't be hired at UT...not enough of a splash and comes from too small of a school (in their eyes)

They have boosters that are still caught in the 90s

I will say the name that seems to be gaining some momentum is Josh Heupel or maybe Tony Elliott

I would think Satt would be loyal to his friend, Shane.

No, ours is not a good situation but at least we don't have NCAA issues.

I just hope we don't see Jamey Chadwell in our division.  He makes a lot of sense for them, but hopefully, he holds out for a better job.

OC was the only one I have/had any questions about.  Seems like he was pretty far down Matt Rhule's list, but I trust Shane after he was able to get Clayton White and Pete Lembo to lead our defense and special teams.

I think without a doubt the clear problem with the Tenn job is how bad the sanctions will be and when will they be known.  It likely will take the NCAA longer to rule on that than Tenn can wait to hire a coach and therein lies the rub.  If the sanctions are three years probation (no bowls) and cutting a bunch of scholarships, then who would take that?  The new HC will not know when he signs on the dotted line......

Actually, Satterfield was Rhule's pick for OC at Temple - and then Satterfield left for the Tennessee Tech HC job. Rhule could not hire him as OC at Baylor because he already had an OC - but he did hire him at Baylor and took him along to Carolina, and then recommended him for the South Carolina job.

Sounds like he is pretty high on Rhule's list.
Assistant OL coach isn't very inspiring, but I hope I'm wrong.  I guess I'm just used to Gamecock OCs being bad.  I don't know that we've had a good one since I started following the team.

Combine that with a real problem with boosters running that show in recent years and yes it has the potential to be a crappy job.  It looks like in hiring Danny White and the guarantees they have given him to run things that they are trying to cut some of the booster influence out of things, but you never know when big donors start throwing their weight around.

I heard an lot about Chadwell last night, rumors were  that their plane was in Conway , and they were talking with Chadwell.  Some talk show hosts have heard the same  such as PAUL , but he said could not confirm that but he knew of it earlier.

I was wondering how the uringe faithful would take that news.  Given the impending doom of serious sanctions I'm not sure why they really thought they would get, although it sounds like Elliott gave it some serious thought.

I won't be surprised to see Virginia Tech go after Elliott next year
