Gamecock Central is reporting that Coach Lamont Paris has interest in:

Kyle Lofton (guard) and Osun Osunniyi (center). Both are in the transfer portal from St. Bonaventure, and are well above par players.

The other name currently connected to Gamecock interest is USC Upstate's Bryson Mozone, who is originally from North Augusta.

All three names would add some serious punch to the Gamecock's scoring abilities, as well as solid defensive prowess.

Actually, per NCAA rules, any coach is unable to talk about recruits by name unless they sign a LOI with the school. They can make generic remarks, but are not supposed to name players specifically in any form of press. The "leaks" that come out about players interest are typically from reporters who chase athletes, follow their twitter/Social feeds, and pay close attention to the portal entries. Of course, official and unofficial visits to schools can also be announced. Those things give good ideas as to how recruiting looks. But don't ever expect to hear a Lamont Paris speaking publicly about someone he has tried to recruit (even those who have spurned him), as that is frowned upon heavily by NCAA rules infractions committees.
