Miami prospects highlight Monday visitors for South Carolina’s Muschamp Camp
July 18, 2016
The Will Muschamp Football Camp was back in business Monday morning for the first of five sessions this week.
A few notable prospects made the trip to South Carolina for the camp Monday, even though Muschamp is in Connecticut at the ESPN headquarters. Perhaps that’s why a majority of the big-name campers won’t start showing up until Tuesday.
Players from two Miami area high schools are counted among the guests Monday.
Mikel Jones, a 2019 DE/OLB from Champagnat Catholic, has offers from Clemson, Iowa State, Southern and Temple. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound prospect is joined by two teammates, including 2018 OL/DL Jawuan Wilson.
Another intriguing prospect in for the Monday camp session is 2018 WR/TE Preston Parsons, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound prospect from The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn. South Carolina defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson was spotted chatting with Parsons before the camp began.
Players from Miami’s Jackson High School made South Carolina the first stop on their college tour. Jackson’s head coach is Lakatriona Brunson, the first female head coach in Florida high school football. The Generals defensive coordinator is Luther Campbell, aka Uncle Luke from 2 Live Crew.
