Michigan claims another USC target from New Jersey

July 3, 2015

WR Brad Hawkins Jr. of Camden, NJ Friday announced a commitment to Michigan. Hawkins had narrowed his decision to the Wolverines and USC. His decision comes a little more than a week after his teammate DE Ron Johnson Jr. committed to Michigan. Johnson also was heavily recruited by USC. Both players attended USC’s Showcase camp last month.

Hawkins said Thursday one of the positives for him with Michigan was his relationship with new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Hawkins said he had talked on multiple occasions with Harbaugh while his only conversation with USC coach Steve Spurrier took place at the camp. Hawkins had been in regular contact with USC recruiters GA Mangus and Steve Spurrier Jr.

Despite the commitment to the Wolverines, Hawkins said this week he will take other official visits in the fall and USC is likely to receive one of those.

Hawkins’ commitment is the second in a stretch of three in three days impacting USC and Clemson. Thursday OL Parker Boudreaux of Orlando committed to Notre Dame over Clemson and others. Saturday LB Kash Daniel of Paintsville, KY will announce his choice with USC, Kentucky and Louisville the finalists.
