Mike Bobo Named Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach

Bobo Hired as the Gamecocks’ New Play Caller

Mike Bobo has been named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, University of South Carolina head football coach Will Muschamp announced today. Bobo has agreed to a two-year contract, which was approved by the University's Board of Trustees this afternoon. (VIEW ARTICLE)

Boom and Bobo wasting no time getting on the road down to Myrtle Beach to in home visit with Doty.

I really feel he will do a better job than B-Mac did. Will we start winning more. I really hope so. He went from 1.8 million at CSU to 1.2 million here. Not that much of a pay cut being he is no longer the HC. It is a 2 year contract. Wouldn't it be great to see him do so well that next year we offer him Brent Venables money, 2.2 Million.

Seriously, Glad Champs buyout is lower now but really hope Bobo helps him keep his job. Bobo already out visiting recruits, doubt he brings any new ones all the way from CSU, but next year I bet he brings a few in. From what I hear, he was a really good recruiter at UGA. I just hope Coach Brown and Bobo turn our offensive around right away. Still wonder about Coach Brown getting such a big raise, but maybe with the right play caller, those RB's will really look great. I know we are going to have a couple really good ones. Would love to see a couple 1000 yard rushers and a QB throw for 3000+.

Bobo has shown in the past that he can get those kind of numbers. Lets see him do it again.

Our season next year will either get a lot better or go south pretty quickly.

Will, TRob, and Bobo may find the handle and get us some 10-win seasons or something close enough.

I believe Clemson's situation will be entertaining after the CFPs are over and there is coaching and player turnover.  You know that has to happen at some point.

Shoot, what if Dabo decides to take a stab at the NFL coaching the Panthers and turns Pickens County upside down by taking his staff with him?

Perchance to dream.

I think that's how most of us in the reasonable camp feel, probably those in the unreasonable camp too, but they won't admit it right now. Hopefully this time next year, we're all happy that we weren't able to scrape together the money for a buyout this year.

We now have our Bobo to go up against Dabo.
Well if Bo knows, doesn't that mean Bobo knows double?

I hope we see this Bobo starting next season. :kick-ass:

I think our baseline sets up well for Bobo to come in and have success early. I think he's a safe and secure hire that the team needed to start the climb up the hill. I don't think we're really a team set up for flash but more smash mouth with downhill passing.

I like the fact that he seems to be adaptable based on what he has to work with. That will be something new for us.

This, this, this. Not to mention he is a hell of a play caller. With what we have at RB and Llyod coming in we will run the ball to set up the pass. Play action from under center will be a welcome site for me. Make the safties, make decisions.

Living in ATL for about 35 years now, I'm very familiar with Bobo. We'll see how he does. I have pros and cons but hope for the best.

I look forward to having 2 RB in the backfield together. Then you make the safeties and LB's have to freeze to see which way you are going, and you seriously have more protection for your QB if he does play action.

You never know how JUCO players are going to do but the kid from that JUCO school in Iowa is supposively the highest ranking RB in the JUCO ranks. With Lloyd coming and and Harris and Fenwick in the fold we are looking pretty deep and good in that position.

Bobo and Boom need to lay off the biscuits! Looking forward to some tough offensive play. Downhill with a full back and heavy use of TE's. I really think we hit 8 wins next year.

Getting the Juco RB and then Lloyd enrolling early bolds well for his scheme.   I’m nervous about the hire but I’m way more behind this choice than the BMac hire.  Like he fits our personnel and think his SEC experience is a big deal.  I worry about him being creative or being 3rd down draw king like he was at uga.
