I really hope this young man gets some reps over the next few games..we've played him,now we need to PLAY him..I know LATTI will always be #1 but I hope he can do his thing and we see Davis and Miles round out the day...I just think Davis is a different type of back with the way he runs and could really add a different dimension to the running attack. I'll also say that Shaq,Adams,and Anderson are 3 guys that could make all the difference in the world and I hope we don't wait until mid-season to get them involved..

Mike Davis.....

I agree with you and disagree with your comments.
1st - I wouldn't say that him playing this past weekend would make much of a difference in whether he "could" get an extra year or not. Trust me, if Mike Davis ends up not playing at all the next few weeks, I am sure he could easily end up having a strained calf or something that would allow him to get a medical redshirt this year. We have had that happen with a lot of our players.
2nd - Having said that, if Mike Davis is a NFL caliber RB then there is no way he would stay for five years anyways and I am sure the coaches know that and they may be why they had no reservations of putting him in.
Running backs simply don't stay for five years (if they are NFL bound) so the redshirt is kind of a moot point.
I know Mike Davis was a highly recruited kid so my guess is that he has aspirations of making it to the next level. So I doubt if he would stay five years regardless.
