Mike Leach “isn’t welcome” at DeSoto High School anymore after pulling offer to recruit

Even in the relatively slow time of January, Washington State coach Mike Leach can find a way to get himself into a controversy.
This time, it has to do with pulling a scholarship offer to a player, and a high school coach's promise that Leach is not welcome to come back to the school anymore after rescinding the offer.
Washington State offered a full ride to safety Myron Turner of DeSoto, Texas, who committed in October, but then revoked the offer when it found a better player.

said the commitment of Montrel Meander, a three-star safety from Amarillo, Texas, made Turner expendable
and he was dropped from the commitment list.
This, rightfully, made Turner's high-school coach very angry, according to the Dallas Morning News.
“You just don’t do a kid like that,” DeSoto coach Claude Mathis told the Dallas Morning News. “Washington State isn’t welcome at DeSoto any longer.”
Mathis' anger was heightened by Washington State rescinding the offer so close to National Signing Day, which is Feb. 6, and that Leach visited DeSoto last week and never said Turner's offer was in danger. DeSoto, which is near Dallas, is well known for its football heritage that includes NFL players like Denver Broncos star outside linebacker Von Miller. DeSoto made the 5A Division I semifinals last year. It's not a school a college coach wants to be banned
from.
Turner hadn't wavered on his commitment, and now Mathis has been on the phone the past few days trying to find a FBS school with an opening for his player.
“He’s really hurt right now,” Mathis told the paper.
