Mississippi RB Chris Davis To Make First Visit To USC Saturday Gamecocks
tSPORTSTALK / January 17, 2023USC running backs coach Montario Hardesty visited Picayune, MS in December and looked up a pair of top prospects in the 2024 class in RB Chris Davis (5-11 165) and DE Jamonta Waller (6-2 225). Both are planning to visit the Gamecocks this Saturday for their junior day event.
“They started recruiting me a couple of months ago with personal attention, and he came up here, came by the school and checked on me,” Davis said. “I like that he (Hardesty) keeps it real. I ask questions and he fills me in on all the questions that I have. They want me to ball. I feel like I can come in there and play ball, make the best of the opportunity.”
Davis also has offers from Florida State, Boston College, Penn State, Mississippi State, Auburn, Missouri, Western Kentucky, Cincinnati and Georgia Tech. During the season he visited Georgia and Mississippi State.
He is also planning to visit Florida State January 28th. He’s hoping these visits will give him the insight he needs to make an educated decision later this summer. Davis said he’s looking for a school that will feel like home.
“First, it’s the people. It’s really the people,” Davis said. “If we just click and I like it there, and I love the atmosphere. All that stuff.”
Davis is a speedster who has recorded 4.3 second times in the 40-yard dash. He earned All-State honors in helping lead his team to a state championship. For the season he rushed for 1078 yards and 15 touchdowns while averaging nearly nine yards per carry.
