They are giving up on the ground this season over 270 yards a game! Next to dead last in the country, get the backs cranked up and Jason can hit a few balls like against Florida, boys and girls we are going bowling

DL Coach Jethro Franklin was fired after the loss to the Vols earlier this season.

A day after its historically bad defensive performance against Tennessee, Missouri football made a change to its coaching staff.

Missouri has fired defensive line coach Jethro Franklin, sources confirmed to the Tribune on Sunday afternoon.

Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz announced Sunday that defensive analyst Al Davis will coach the defensive line for the rest of the season.

"After careful review, I believe a change in direction at the defensive line coach was needed," Drinkwitz said in a statement Sunday. "Jethro is a professional and man of high character, and we wish him all the best moving forward."

Franklin was hired when defensive coordinator Steve Wilks arrived at MU in January. Franklin's time in Columbia is over after just eight months and five games.

Missouri gave up 677 yards of total offense Saturday. That number was just 73 yards shy of the program's all-time worst, which came against Oklahoma in 1986.

They haven't really done any better since then, but they have played TAMU and UGA.  They gave up 35 points to North Texas and then 28 to Vandy and still managed to get the wins.

Will they be in the emotional toilet after Saturday's 43-6 loss to UGA or will they be up for us?  We will need to play good on both sides of the ball to get the win if they have any fight left in them.

Drinkwitz is only (9-10/6-9) since he got there in 2020.  You have to wonder if Drinkwitz would be gone before the end of the season if we beat them soundly and then UF and ARK do the same.

They have inexperience at the QB position, too.

It wasn’t pretty. I didn’t expect it to be, and I hope you didn’t expect it to be, either. Missouri rotated between a true freshman and a redshirt freshman with a combined 16 career pass attempts. They did so while facing a pass defense which came into the game ranking first in the country in yards allowed per pass attempt (5.0) with the fewest passing touchdowns allowed (3). This was good enough to come into the game ranked second in the country in QB rating against.

Oh, and that’s not to mention the fact that Georgia’s opponents have scored on just eight of 14 red zone opportunities, and the Bulldogs rank top 10 nationally in sacks per game (3.25). Yeah, they’re pretty good.

I say all of that to say this - we weren’t going to learn a whole lot about Brady Cook or Tyler Macon against this Georgia defense.

Both Brown and Noland have more combined QB experience than those of Mizzou.
