Monday morning recruiting news
Jan. 03, 2022
We roll into the 2022 portion of the NCAA recruiting calendar and will have a dead period for football recruiting thru January 13th, except for the mid-year enrollees. The recruiting goes live again on January 14th and will stay that way thru January 30th. A dead period begins January 31st and runs the length of February. So, schools will have three weekends in January for official visits and unofficial visits for underclassmen. South Carolina will take advantage of those weekends as they attempt to fill out their 2022 classes and make headway for 2023.
Gamecock transfer target WR target Jacob Cowing, who is leaving UTEP, plans to announce his decision Monday. His finalists are the Gamecocks, Arizona, Oregon, LSU and Florida.
Gamecocks offered 2024 CB Jivan Baly (6-0 165) of Norcross, GA.
Gamecock target 2023 DT Keith Sampson of New Bern, NC plans to name a top five on January 15th. The Gamecocks have offered, the Tigers have not. He also holds offers from Tennessee, Alabama, NC State, North Carolina, West Virginia, Vanderbilt and others.
Gamecock signee WR Landon Samson of Southlake, TX will not enroll this month as originally planned according to Ben Portnoy of The State
