Monday morning recruiting report
Dec. 20, 2021
Former Gamecock commitment SAF Jyvonte McClendon of Lakeland, FL indicated thru a post on his Instagram Friday that he plans to join the Gamecocks 2022 class soon. McClendon did not sign last Wednesday as things were being sorted out regarding his arrest on a felony charge November 28th for shooting into a car. McCledon argued he fired into the car to stop the driver from ramming his mother’s car. It’s possible charges may have been dropped but that’s not been confirmed.
Greenville QB Pro Franklin was offered by Tennessee-Martin. SC State has become a major factor for him, and he plans to take an official visit there in January. Franklin said he’s also looking at Marshall and UT-Martin for January visits. He had been in conversation with Gamecocks about one of their spots, but with their recent quarterback commitments, that possibility is over. This season Franklin passed for 3432 yards and 37 touchdowns.
Gamecocks offered 2023 RB Treyaun Webb (6-0 188) of Jacksonville. Webb is one of the top running back prospects in his class and has already decommitted twice, from Georgia and Oklahoma. In his career Webb has rushed for 2371 yards and 27 touchdowns.
Gamecocks offered 2023 TE Connor Cox (6-6 220) of Jacksonville.
Gamecocks offered 2024 DB CJ Heard (5-11 190) of Atlanta.
