Junior college transfer JaMarcus King is expected to give USC’s secondary an immediate lift this fall.  At one point it looked like another junior college corner, JC Jackson, would be coming to USC and he, too, would have boosted that area.  The Jackson deal fell thru but it’s still possible the Gamecocks will add another junior college corner for this season.

Steven Montac of Coffeyville JC, KS visited USC Tuesday along with his friend and former high school teammate in Covington, GA WR Justin Marshall.  He did not participate in camp but instead talked with Will Muschamp and other coaches.

When contacted Tuesday afternoon, Montac declined to comment on his status with the Gamecocks.

“You guys will just have to see August 1st when practice starts,” Montac said, an indication, perhaps, that Montac expects to be with the Gamecocks then though he also said he’s still considering Boise State and Missouri.

Montac was a full qualifier out of high school and only spent one season in junior college leaving him three seasons at the next level.

Montac was a teammate of King’s last season at Coffeyville and the Gamecocks got a chance to know him while recruiting King.  He visited USC in March and it was thought he might commit then but the Gamecocks did not offer at that time.

Last season Montac had 17 tackles with 1 interception and 3 passes broken up.
