Details of Warren Ericson’s interest in South Carolina were shared in this space last week.
From this perspective, it’s pretty clear that Ericson (6-foot-4, 290 pounds) will play somewhere in the SEC. While the Gamecocks are one of the primary options, they certainly aren’t the only one.
Georgia, which is about an hour from North Gwinnett High School (Suwanee, Ga.), has plenty of appeal. It’s close to home. He knows a lot of people at the school. The indoor facility is nice. Offensive line coach Sam Pittman has developed a strong relationship, too.
And there’s Alabama.
“They kind of have their own selling point, for sure,” Ericson said. “They don’t have to send you a bunch of envelopes in the mail, to convince you to go there. They show you the facts. They’re going to win wherever they go and they’re going to work hard and they’re going to get it done.”
Ericson, who’s ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 17 offensive guard in the Class of 2018, is planning to announce a commitment at some point during the middle of the summer.

South Carolina offensive tackle target Dylan Wonnum has plenty of options to choose from and he plans to reach a conclusion before the end of the summer.
Auburn, Georgia, LSU and South Carolina are among his offers.
“They’re equal on my list,” Wonnum said.
South Carolina is home to his older brother, D.J. Wonnum, so Dylan (6-5, 279) has been there plenty of times. Over the last few months, he’s grown close with offensive line coach Eric Wolford.
“He’s really just a cool person. When he explains stuff, he knows how to break it down, so you fully understand,” Dylan said. “He’s very hands on. He’ll show you, so you will know. He just doesn’t say it and that’s it. He’ll show you. That’s good. I like him [a lot].”
Wolford’s two years of work in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers impresses Dylan, who’s ranked by 247Sports as the No. 7 offensive tackle in the Class of 2018.
“It stands out a lot, because not many coaches have done that,” Dylan said. “For him, coming from the NFL, he knows what it takes to get there. He can tell me stuff like that, push me.”
“I really like how close it is. I can pop home if I want to eat dinner with my family, things like that. I really enjoy the guys there. I got a chance to spend the night and hang out with some people on the team, so that was really cool.”
Crystal Ball Eval
On Tuesday, one of the top emerging in-state prospects landed a 247Sports Crystal Ball selection for South Carolina.
South Carolina: 2018 DE Trajan Jeffcoat: Seems logical, assuming the Gamecocks offer and make a heavy push.
Offers out
South Carolina offered at least two 2019 prospects from the state of Georgia on Tuesday.
Crisp County (Cordele) High School linebacker Ahdarrious Gee joined a couple of his teammates, 2018 linebacker Quay Walker and 2019 cornerback Jammie Robinson. Gee, a 6-1, 190-pound linebacker, began the day with offers from Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
Buford High School running back Derrian Brown landed his offer from South Carolina, to go along with several other Power 5 programs, including Florida, Louisville and Oregon. His teammate, 2019 offensive lineman Harry Miller, was offered last week by the Gamecocks.
