More SpursUp weekend notes
July 24, 2017
Running back commitment Lavonte Valentine (Melbourne, Fla.) was in town on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with his grandmother, father and younger brother.
“Wow, everything about this trip was amazing. This was the best decision I’ve ever made, committing to the University of South Carolina,” he said.
Valentine hopes to graduate early from high school in order to enroll at South Carolina in January.
“Working on it now,” he said. “I have all of my credits, trying to make it happen.”
Junior college wide receiver commitment Ronnie Jamison put together an impressive showing during the combine portion of South Carolina’s camp. In addition to his impressive times and jumps, he was measured at 6-foot-2, 187 pounds. His listing on the Highland Community College website has him at 6-3, 200.
Coming out of Irmo (S.C.) High School in 2016, his only offers were from South Carolina State and Highland.
Four-star linebacker Dax Hollifield (Shelby, N.C.) had “another great visit” on Friday.
Two of the top 2019 prospects from North Carolina, Elizabeth City-Northeastern safety J.R. Walker and outside linebacker Traveon Freshwater, were unable to visit on Saturday. Freshwater said they had to go back home because of a family emergency after seeing North Carolina State on Friday.
