Mubenga enjoyed first look at the Gamecocks

SPORTS TALK / April 19, 2022

1650410477334.pngOT Paul Mubenga (6-4 280) of Buford, GA got his first close up look at the USC football program Saturday at the spring game. Mubenga was actually offered by the Will Muschamp staff at USC, and when Shane Beamer took over and Greg Adkins came on board as the offensive line coach, they picked up on recruiting him. Earlier this month Adkins got back to Mubenga with the offer.

“It was a great visit, they were very welcoming and showed a lot of interest towards me,” Mubenga said. ‘It was a great atmosphere, definitely a lot of fun. The fans were really lively out there, which is great. I’ve been getting recruited by coach Beamer and Adkins and they really want me to be a part of their program. They think I’m a great fit and felt really welcoming.”

As for watching the spring game, Mubenga said he focused on the offensive line to see how they play and how they are coached by Adkins.

“They are well coached at an elite level, based on what I’ve seen so far,” Mubenga said. “I can fit anywhere that they see me fit.”

Mubenga has made a lot of visits this spring with other stops at Pitt, West Virginia, Michigan, Auburn, Duke, Georgia Tech, Alabama and Tennessee. He is going to LSU this weekend and will finish out the month by visiting either Ole Miss or Arkansas. After these last visits he will cut his list to ten. He hopes to make his decision before his season, but no later than after the fourth game of the season.
