Muschamp’s observations from the Gamecocks first Fall scrimmage

August 12, 2019

Muschamp team had its first live scrimmage work of August, the scrimmage played a key part in helping him in deciding which players will play important roles when the season rolls around. He was able to see three groups of players for 50 snaps each, and that highlights something he’s been chasing since he arrived in Columbia. (VIEW ARTICLE)

Muschamp starting to really build quality depth which is important to sustain the level needed to winning in SEC play. Seems he is pleased over all after the first fall scrimmage .

▪ The staff came away concerned with the passing game, Muschamp said. The running game had been solid, but multiple parts of the passing game needed work.

“We need to throw it better,” Muschamp said. “We’re not as consistent in the throwing game, whether it’s from a protection standpoint or just throwing and catching it.”

This is is the most discouraging thing I have heard about the team.  We have a senior QB, and tons of experience at the WR positions.  I really thought we would be past this, especially with all the Manning Passing Academy hoopla.

Don't be discouraged C and P. We are not struggling in the passing game at all. CWM is not going to advertise our prowess throwing the ball well.

I understand that Muschamp doesn't advertise the team's abilities, and although I hate not getting news during practices leading up to the season, I do appreciate that he has silenced all of the leaks from the past.

However, I just wasn't expecting to hear that.  He makes it sound bad, which is probably a good thing.  I will just have to wait and see.  I know you have had the opportunity to be at some practices, so I will take your word for it, and be happy about it.
