One of the top prospects in Georgia for the 2019 class is DE Curtis Fann 6'3" 260lbs of Twin City. He’s coming off a junior season of 63 tackles with 7 sacks and 5 forced fumbles. Like he does with running backs, Fann has already gotten a jump on his recruiting naming USC, Clemson, Auburn and Georgia as his top four.
He was at USC last month for a junior day and he liked what he heard from Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson.
“They were telling me they need me there, they can use me early and there’s an opportunity to play,” Fann said. “I feel like they are going in the right direction. I talk about every day with Coach Muschamp. He tells me he need me there and I can really help and come be a part of the first championship. He’s recruiting me harder than any other head coach. That means a lot.”
Though he has Clemson on his short list, Fann said he’s not heard as much from the Tigers. The contact has been coming about every couple of weeks.
“They’ve been kind of slacking off a little bit,” he said. “But they tell me I’m the kind of player that fits in to their defense. Coach Venables and Coach Bates tell me I fit their defensive scheme. I like Clemson a lot too.”
Fann said he also hears from Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee. He has also been to Auburn unofficially. This summer he may take some official visits to USC, Auburn and Notre Dame. Some of his other offers are Florida State, NC State, LSU and Alabama. He is not sure when he’ll sign but he’s not graduating early. He does not have a favorite.
