The Gamecocks are going into its first big-time matchup of the year with a mostly clean bill of health

Sept. 10, 2019

  • Coach Will Muschamp on defending Tua Tagovailoa: Have to be disciplined in rush lanes. Tua has uncanny ability in off-rhythm plays. Have to restrict lanes up front and maintain coverage.
  • Coach Will Muschamp on working under Saban: You treat every game the same … A large % of what we do came from Nick (spring install, player evaluation) I learned a lot, but this is about Alabama's 11 and South Carolina's 11. I haven't worked with Nick since 2005.
  • Muschamp on tackling: Emphasized every day … if you stop moving your feet, you have 0% chance of tackling a good athlete. We also want to leverage ball the right way. If you don't make tackle, you must leverage the ball (force runner to change direction) the right way.
  • Injury notes from Will Muschamp: WR Randrecous Davis ran today but don't know what his availability will be, RB Deshaun Fenwick may be out, DL Keir Thomas still out. Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp said his ankle infection will still keep him off the field as USC is set to face the Tide. The coach said it would take two weeks from his initial announcement to have a tangible update on the situation
