Nation’s No. 4 QB Artur Sitkowski raves about South Carolina visit

To make the first day of the Will Muschamp Football Camp, 4-star quarterback Artur Sitkowski traveled to South Carolina all the way from Matawan, N.J.
All the miles logged on that trip turned out to be worth it for the lanky signal-caller.
“I loved it. I really loved everything about it, from the university to the football program,” Sitkowski said.
Sitkowski, the No. 4 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2018 according to 247Sports, wanted to check out the Gamecocks after offensive coordinator Kurt Roper stopped by Old Bridge High School during the spring evaluation period.
Roper offered Sitkowski on April 29, the same day as Michigan. Sitkowski also reports offers from Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Miami and North Carolina.
“From Coach Roper to Coach Muschamp, I felt really comfortable there and my dad felt comfortable with the people down there, so it was awesome,” Sitkowski said.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound prospect enjoyed his work with Roper, who doubles as the Gamecocks’ quarterbacks coach.
“I learned a lot. I really learned a lot, just from the football field aspect, but also when we went to the quarterback room and learned the mental side of the game,” Stikowski said. “Just from the football aspect, from the physical aspect, the footwork — I learned so much that day.
“(Roper) coaches with so much passion, so much fire. He’s a great teacher. I learned so much from him. From the mental side of the game, I learned so much, from protections. I got a little taste of their offense, but I learned a lot.”
As a sophomore, Sitkowski passed for 1,436 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.
