LB Alim McNeill (6-1 262) of Raleigh was a recipient recently of a USC offer. The Gamecocks join a growing list of offers for McNeill that includes Penn State, Michigan, Louisville, Kentucky, Duke, NC State, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Boston College and Tulane.
“I’ve been talking to coach Lance Thompson and he likes the fact that I’m able to move with the size I have,” McNeill said. “They like my overall game and they feel like I can go a lot for their team.”
McNeill has never been to USC for a game or a visit but is full aware of what he could find football-wise in Columbia.
“I know they take football really serious down there,” he said. “Seeing that it’s the SEC, that’s pretty much top football.”
McNeill can’t make it to USC’s junior day Saturday because of baseball but is planning to be in for the spring game. He’s going to NC State in two weeks, possible Florida State for a spring practice and Michigan this summer. He also wants to visit Penn State, Louisville and Kentucky this summer. He has been to Duke, NC State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Last season McNeill also visited Clemson for the Pitt game. The Tigers have not offered but he remains in contact.
“They really want me to come to camp and see me workout,” McNeill said.
Last season McNeill was in on 94 tackles with 15 sacks. He’s also a fullback and scored 14 touchdowns.
