Nix still has Gamecocks at 1 following the most recent visit

SPORTSTALK / April 24, 2023

1682461566313.png(6-1 195) of Kennesaw, GA is seeing his recruiting pick up since USC became his first major offer in March. West Virginia was his most recent offer, and he made spring visits to Georgia Tech and Tennessee. He was also scheduled to visit West Virginia this past weekend for their spring game.

Nix visited the Gamecocks in March and returned for the spring game April 15th. He’s had the Gamecocks on top and nothing has changed

“They are definitely my top school,” Nix said. “Just keeping in touch with the coaches, the coaches that text me, keeping in touch with them is amazing. South Carolina is definitely a place to be at for me.”

Nix is a quarterback/safety combo athlete who was offered by USC secondary coach Torrian Gray as a safety. He focused his attention on the Gamecock defensive backs during the spring game to get a better feel for them and for Gray.

“I experienced a lot of competition,” Nix said. “There’s a lot of competition between the receivers and DBs. From a DB standpoint, they are very coachable. What caught my eye about the DBs was their footwork. He coached them good on their footwork. Like in coverage, the DBs do it well and I feel like they are very coachable, and he does a great job with those DBs.”

Nix also found himself caught up in the excitement the USC fans brought to Williams-Brice Stadium for the glorified scrimmage.

The whole experience at South Carolina, the crowd was amazing. Everything was going good. South Carolina is the place to be,” he said. “The crowd was amazing. They had over 50-thousand people for a spring game, so that’s good. The crowd was very into the game. I’d say South Carolina was a good experience.”

Nix talked some with Gray and they remain in regular contact. Next up in the process will be a visit from the Gamecock coach this spring for a closer look.

“He said he’d be down to see us in the spring and wants me to keep in touch with him, keep in touch this whole spring and summer,” Nix said.
