2 star DB Simeon Gatling (5-10 185) of Greensboro plans to attend USC’s junior day later this month with his cousin RB CJ Freeman. Gatling doesn’t have an offer from the Gamecocks yet, but he’s hoping of landing one soon, perhaps at the junior day March 28th.
“I really like South Carolina,” he said. “I’ve been talking to Coach Elliott and Coach Sands a lot. “I’m going to visit and hopefully get an offer. South Carolina is a school I definitely want an offer from and it would be one of my top schools. I would have a chance for early playing time. Coach Elliott is saying there’s a decent chance for an offer.”
Gatling said he communicated with Elliott on Twitter this week and the phone last week, and he also talked with Sands this week. He said the coaches want to see him in person before offering.
Gatling visited LSU last month and likes the Tigers a lot. He’s going to Vanderbilt March 21st. Last season he went to games at Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia Southern, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia Tech and East Carolina.
LSU and Navy are his two offers at this point with USC, Vanderbilt, NC State and North Carolina showing him interest.
Gatling can also play safety. Last season he had 60 tackles and forced four fumbles. As a sophomore he had 40 tackles and 8 pass breakups. He considers himself to be a lockdown corner.
