Notebook 11.6.16: Notes from the weekend
2018 DE Xavier Thomas of Wilson was at USC Saturday. He’s been to multiple games at USC this season. He’s also been to Clemson, Alabama and Georgia for games.
USC offered 2018 DB Christopher Smith of Hapeville, GA and he visited for the Missouri game. “It was great. The fans are great and the team balled out yesterday, lots of big time plays were made. I was excited when Coach Muschamp and T-Rob told me I was offered. I’m looking forward to building that relationship with those two. They said liked my physicality and technique. They think I would be a perfect fit for the defense since they run lots of man and my style fits that technique.” Smith also has been to Auburn, Georgia and Georgia Tech. His other offers included Auburn, Wisconsin, South Florida, Southern Cal, Wake Forest, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
2017 RB Jaylond Adams of Adamsville, AL visited USC unofficially Saturday. The Gamecocks have not yet offered but he’s getting good interest from them at this point. “The visit was great. I enjoyed the atmosphere and fans the most. They have a very nice facility and campus and the coaches are really cool. Coach Bentley told me to just be patient on the offer since they just jumped in on recruiting me, but they love my film and they love the type of player I am. They are coming down in December to see me but overall I loved the visit. And I like the offense they run.” This season Adams has rushed for 598 yards and 13 touchdowns and has caught 56 passes for 1247 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has 2187 all-purpose yards and 32 total touchdowns. Some of his offers include Illinois, Indiana, UAB, Middle Tennessee, Troy, Ball State and Western Kentucky.
2018 TE Brandon Shellnut of Snellville, GA was at Clemson for the Syracuse game. He’s also hearing from USC but hasn’t visited there yet. By far the most interest is with Auburn where he’s visited five times. He’s also been to Georgia twice and is going back this Saturday. He has not been offered.
2018 OL Collyn Richardson of Airport was at Clemson for the Syracuse game. “The coaches just talked about all the expectations to become a Tiger, all the expected grades and all they expected out of you. They showed us what the new facilities will be like and what you can expect to have when you become a Tiger. I loved the weight room and The Den. Beautiful campus and facilities. Overall the visit went great. My family and I enjoyed the atmosphere, the hospitality and how the coaches treated everyone. Coach Caldwell (OL coach) talked to me and said he was glad I was able to make it. After the game was the best by being in the locker room and hearing Dabo talk to the players and them doing the mannequin challenge was pretty cool.” Richardson also has been to Western Carolina and he visited USC last winter for some workouts with the strength coach after he set a new high school powerlifting record. He has not been offered.
2018 LB Zakoby McClain of Valdosta, GA had planned to go to Clemson for the Syracuse game but didn’t make it. He plans to get in for a game before the season is over. His offers included Maryland, Nebraska, Tennessee, Wisconsin, South Florida and Cincinnati. USC also is showing interest.
