Class of 2015 four-star offensive lineman Brandon Sandifer 6'4" 335lbs (Warner Robins, Ga./Northside) visited South Carolina for the first time this past Saturday for the Gamecocks' junior day and left Columbia with them high on his list.
"They're most definitely among the top [schools] right now," Sandifer said. "It would probably be Alabama and South Carolina. Those are my top two."
Sandifer, who is rated the No. 22 guard in the country by 247Sports, has an offer from the Gamecocks and is being recruited by linebackers coach Kirk Botkin. Sandifer says Botkin told him to "keep my head on straight and to keep working hard" on the trip.
"The highlights (of the South Carolina trip) would be the players and the people, how they treat other people mainly," Sandifer said.
The 6-foot-4, 335-pounder, who also has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Ohio State and Virginia, also took a tour of the Gamecocks' facilities and especially enjoyed the Dodie Academic Center.
"I liked that. It's different from most I've been to," Sandifer said. "There were quiet areas, and it was bigger than most places. Everything is neat."
Sandifer has also spent time at Alabama.
"Everything is massive there," he said. "They have a big weight room, big everything."
What is Sandifer looking for in a school?
"A place that I can call home for four years, somewhere I can live, good city people," he said.
