Official visit reactions; thoughts from Jamyest Williams

Late last week, 2017 3-star offensive tackle K’Rojhn Calbert told SEC Country reporterJesse Simonton that he wanted to see if South Carolina could hold its own against Tennessee.
Mission accomplished.
“It was great. They had a big win over Tennessee and it was well-deserved. They were ready to go in there and do work,” Calbert said, “And that’s what they did.”
After spending Saturday and Sunday on an officia[SIZE= 14px]l visit to see the Gamecocks, Calbert gave the trip a favorable review.[/SIZE]
“Probably the atmosphere — it was a great atmosphere … (the fans) were really, really up for this game,” he said. “Their fans were just behind them. I thought that was really important.”
For Calbert, who attends Warren County High School in McMinnville, Tenn., Saturday night afforded him another chance to see the in-state Vols, who offered last week. He’s been to Knoxville for three games this season.
This weekend was trip No. 2 to South Carolina. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound prospect also took an unofficial visit for the Texas A&M game.
South Carolina has hosted K’Rojhn Calbert for two visits this season.
The official visit began Saturday morning with breakfast at Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
“Then after that, they just showed me around the academics. After that, I got to meet with coach Muschamp,” Calbert said.
The head coach’s message was straightforward.
“What you see is what you get,” Calbert said. “If you come here willing to work and be the best, chances are you’ll get to play. No spots are guaranteed. If anybody guarantees you that, they’re hiding something.
“That’s pretty much what he had to tell me.”
Offensive line coach Shawn Elliott said some of the same things.
“It’s dry. I like to hear the truth. I don’t like to be lied to,” Calbert said. “So is that something I’m willing to do if I got there? That’s something I’m willing to do anywhere I go.”
Sunday’s itinerary included breakfast with the two coaches, then more time over at the football offices.
Calbert will return to Tennessee this weekend before heading down to Florida for the South Carolina game. A trip to Kentucky is scheduled for the following weekend. All three are scheduled as unofficial visits. Louisville also is in the mix for a visit.
The idea of a signing day announcement has been kicked around, but Calbert said on Sunday night that it could be made within the next month.
Nasirildeen heads to Tallahassee
Four-star defender Hamsah Nasirildeen went to Florida State this weekend for an official visit. He spoke with Chris Nee of Noles247 about the official:
“They offered me to come down here. I thought it would be a good opportunity to come down, so I took it,” Nasirildeen said.
Nasirildeen’s lead recruiter at Florida State is Jay Graham, who spent several seasons at South Carolina as running backs coach. Graham is from Concord (N.C.) High School, same as Nasirildeen.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect told Noles247 that he is still committed to South Carolina. Listed as the No. 9 outside linebacker in the Class of 2017, Nasirildeen is committed t o the Gamecocks as a safety

Jamyest’s return
South Carolina has hosted 4-star cornerback commitment Jamyest Williams on three unofficial visits this season: East Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. On Saturday, he was joined by 4-star safety Deangelo Gibbs, his teammate from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga.
Williams didn’t offer a comment about Gibbs’ status, though he did have plenty of good things to say about the Gamecocks’ win over the Vols.
“This is just the beginning of great things to come,” he said. “Many don’t know that Jake (Bentley) is supposed to be in my class but came early. He’s one of the main reasons for this turnaround, but there is plenty of more work to do. Great all-around team effort to get the W.”

While we’re on the subject of South Carolina’s rising star quarterback, it’s worth sharing quick mention from 4-star running back Jamal Elliott, who was on campus from Hillside High School in Durham, N.C.
“I didn’t realize that was coach (Bobby) Bentley’s son until after the game when I was seeing tweets about it. His son is pretty good. I liked what I saw in the game from him. I feel like, as he continues to get older … so the offense evolving around him throughout his years, South Carolina I feel like is on the come up.”
Bobby Bentley, the Gamecocks running backs coach, serves as Elliott’s primary recruiter to South Carolina.
