Official visit weekend updates

South Carolina coach Will Muschamp and the Gamecocks’ staff hosted several of their top remaining 2017 targets this weekend for official visits.
SEC Country has been in touch with several of the visitors from the weekend and will continue to be in contact throughout the day on Sunday.
The commitment
Three-star offensive tackle Jordan Rhodes, who committed before leaving on Sunday, said his commitment to the Gamecocks is firm. His official visits to Missouri and Mississippi State have been cancelled.
“All of the college football teams that offered me have good chemistry,” Rhodes said, “And South Carolina is home.”
He added, “The most important task for me is to transition on a college level and get the best education.”
Based on what he’s looking for, it sounds like newly-hired offensive line coach Eric Wolford will help Rhodes (Fairburn, Ga.) make that happen.
“Eric Wolford is a master in his ability to coach players,” Rhodes said.
The 4-star OL
Four-star offensive tackle Tony Gray (Loganville, Ga.) told Phil Kornblut that he enjoyed his return to South Carolina.
“It was a nice visit. It was a nice official. It was good to chat with Coach (Will) Muschamp, Coach (Bryan McClendon), (Travaris Robinson) and all them guys, and the new offensive line coach, Coach Wolford,” Gray said. “I hung out with a lot of the guys on the team, stuff like that.
“They were just pitching to me, ‘At least give it a chance. Give SC a chance to recruit you.’ That’s what they were saying. It was a nice visit all around.”
Florida is up next on Gray’s official visit itinerary.

The 4-star EDGE player
Four-star defensive end Brad Johnson told Wes Mitchell of GamecockCentral that he would fit well at the “Buck” position, which is a hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker.
“With me being able to rush the passer and being mobile all around the field and not just staying on the defensive line but moving around on the field,” Johnson said. “I think that fits me good.”
Johnson, who’s from Pendleton (S.C.) High School, has South Carolina and Virginia Tech at the top of his list, but Tennessee is scheduled for an official visit next weekend.
