One of the top prospects in the Carolinas for the 2017 recruiting season is OL Eric Douglas (6-5 280) of Charlotte. He is well down the road in making a decision with a top four and a plan to make his decision this spring. He currently has a top four of Clemson, USC, Florida and NC State. Cal is a fifth under consideration.
“I’m going to the spring game of my choice,” Douglas said. “I’m not going to tell anyone which spring game I’m going to, only the coaches. I’ll tweet it (his commitment) from that spring game. I don’t have a leader, they are all equal. I’m going to visit all four (this spring) and try to get to Cal for an official visit later in the year.”
Douglas attended Clemson’s junior last weekend. He also visited Clemson for a game last season and for a spring practice last year.
“Clemson had a good atmosphere,” he said. “They were showing us all the renovations. It’s a really good environment, a family atmosphere.”
Douglas camped at USC last season and has remained a target of offensive line coach Shawn Elliott whom he says he hears from every day. And he also talked recently with Will Muschamp.
“They are telling me how they want me to come down there,” Douglas said.
Douglas will attend USC’s junior day February 13th and will go to Florida February 20th. He and his Mallard High team, which has won three consecutive state championships, will open the 2016 season at Dillon which has won four straight state championships.
