OL Landon Dickerson (6-5 295) of Hudson, NC has been holding steady with a top three of USC, Virginia Tech and Tennessee. However, his list could be expanding as Florida State and Auburn are inching their way into the picture. Dickerson plans to be a spectator at USC’s Showcase Camp Saturday and he’s also considering future visits to Florida State and Auburn. He’s also considering a return trip to Virginia Tech to check out the new indoor facility there.
USC offensive line coach Shawn Elliott is keeping up the contact with Dickerson who says they talk regularly via Twitter and weekly on the phone.
“We’re just updating on how school is doing and building a better relationship overall,” Dickerson said. “He’s a big believer in if I can’t have you, I wish you the best of luck, but I’m going to be glad if I can get you. And that’s helpful not to have someone on your back 24/7 pushing you to try to come somewhere.”
Dickerson is largely projected for Virginia Tech where he has strong family ties but he insists that’s far from a done deal at this point in recruiting.
“That’s a family school for me,” he said of the Virginia Tech speculation. “I think that’s a big reason, and they were an early offer. I’m wide open right now, it’s kind of up in the air. No one has stuck out as a front runner, at least not yet.”
Dickerson won’t make a decision until after he takes some official visits this season, and then he could take some more visits after he makes a pledge.
