2 star OL Malik Young 6'4" 295lbs of Woodmont committed to USC in late-May, his only major offer, and is using that as motivation moving forward. He says the offer excited him and he knew that he was USC-bound. "When I came up to camp as a junior I kind of surprised some people in the one-on-one(s)," said Young. "It all started there. I went back to school and worked really hard last season. Coach (Shawn) Elliott came to my school-I guess he saw my highlight film-and he offered me," said Young. "I had to commit." Young feels like he flew under the radar and he is extremely appreciative to have the opportunity to play in Columbia. "It feels good," he said. "It's my favorite school and it's close to home. I feel like coach Elliott is one of the best offensive line coaches in the SEC and coach (Steve) Spurrier is a hall-of-fame coach." Young is discouraging other schools from getting involved with him by saying, "I won't take any other visits. It's Carolina all the way. They were the first (school) to take a chance on me." Young will now turn his attention to encouraging others to join him at USC. His only other offer is from SC State.
